when my friends from the northeast call
i tell them i’m learning to surf
i’m not learning to surf, we make jokes about weed
then we hang up the phone

these days i eat burritos alone too much
eating by yourself all the time really kind of sucks

when my friends from texas call
they say the food here is better
and we bullshit bout the weather
they promise they will come visit
when my friends from the midwest call
they seem glad i’m alive
i haven’t seen some of them in so long
i don’t know why

a bar of dark chocolate was the highlight of my day
i’ve got nothing to say and i’ve got no one to say it to

it’s four o clock in the morning
and i can’t sleep
wonder if i made the right choice
leaving the people who love me
why am i always starting over?
new cities, same street names
